What an evaluation can cover
A conversation about opioid use starts with your health and your goals. An assessment may include the opioids you use, current medications, previous treatment, other health conditions, and the support available to you.
You can ask about starting treatment, continuing an existing plan, or finding a different level of care. Your physician helps determine whether outpatient care is appropriate or whether additional medical services are needed.
Buprenorphine and medication options
Medication is an established part of opioid use disorder treatment. Buprenorphine is one option a physician may discuss as part of an individual treatment plan. Counseling, recovery supports, and continuing medical care may also be part of that plan.
The choice of medication, how treatment begins, and follow-up depend on your medical assessment. A website inquiry or visit does not guarantee a particular prescription.

An equal physician partnership
SNAP is co-founded and co-led by Maureen Strohm, MD, DFASAM, FAAFP, and Brian Kaszuba, MD, FASAM. Our physicians provide Addiction Medicine consultations for hospitalized patients at Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Hospital consultations are requested through the treating hospital team. They are separate from the practice’s planned outpatient telehealth appointments.
